TPP's primary focus is the Master of Science Program that prepares students for practical work in government and industry. Students typically require two years to complete the degree requirements, which include an interdisciplinary thesis focused on a technology policy issue.

TPP's doctoral program in Technology, Management, and Policy enrolls about five advanced graduate students each year. Our doctorates have found positions in universities, industry, and government.

TPP is under the leadership of Professor Dava Newman, of MIT's Engineering Systems Division and the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics. TPP's Founding Chairman is Professor Richard de Neufville.

The MIT Technology and Policy Program is part of a significant development in engineering education. Sister programs are Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, Systems Engineering and Policy Analysis at the Delft University of Technology, and Management Science and Engineering (newly formed) at Stanford University.
